Sir,
I have the honour to inform you that, as Postmaster
General Hong Kong, I draw an allowance of £100 per annum from
the Imperial Post Office. am now on leave from that Colony;
and under arrangements made by the Colonial Government, I am
to draw the full allowance up to and including the 22nd June
next.
I have drawn in full up to and including 31st March
last and would ask you to be good enough to remit the
allowance to me or inform me what is the proper course to

tax and would ask you to forward it to the proper Department.
I have not forwarded it through the local Surveyor of Taxes, as
I was not in the United Kingdom during any part of the period
for which abatement is claimed, having landed on 21st May.
With reference to the allowance of £100, after 22na June, half
will be drawn as heretofore in Hong Kong by Mr. S. B. C. Ross
and the other half by myself here.
